Build a crossword tower from today's letters. Reuse letters freely — but each word can stand only once. Words need 3+ letters.
Start: place a Down word on a glowing landing pad — it drops until it rests on the ground.
After that, every word needs real support: cross a letter, rest on top of tiles, or lean flush with 2+ letters of contact. A single brushed corner won't hold. Any crossing run of 3+ letters must still be a real word.
Weight: each letter's number is its weight. Weight far from the center line — and higher up — tips the tower; heavy letters low in the structure are much safer than heavy letters up top. Keep the bubble level out of the red or it all comes down.
Preview: as you type, the ghost word shows its risk — green is safe, amber would strain the tower, red would collapse it. A solid outline means it spells a valid word so far.
Trusses: an Across word that crosses the center line, is tied into vertical structure on both sides, and spans open air below — a real bridge between your towers. Big stability boost, and gates count only these. Center-spanning words that sit on the ground or on solid tiles are plates/decks: a smaller boost.
Crosswinds: each band has its own wind, shown on its line — same for everyone all day. It pushes your tower while your top is in that band, and strengthens the deeper into the band you climb. Read it before you cross, and lean into it.
Gates: band lines are structural checkpoints (⊞ on the line): building past TREETOPS needs 1 truss, SKYLINE 2, CLOUDS 3, STARS 4. No bridges between your towers, no altitude.
Collapses: you get 3 recoveries per puzzle (the ✗s). Each collapse you undo burns one; after the third, the next fall is final.
The taller the tower, the less imbalance it can take — and there's no ceiling. Climb the sky: Rooftop (5) → Treetops (9) → Skyline (14) → Clouds (19) → Stars (25+).
